Once again, Aliyah's dreams were haunting her. Curled up into her comfortable spot in a cave, a hollowed out place in the wall filled with the long grass outside for comfort, she was dreaming of her father. "Aliyah.. hello sweetie," Xiomar spoke gently to her, making Aliyah grin lightly. But all of a sudden, her mother, Safara, was there frowning and growling to her father. Beside her was Zain, Safara's new mate. Without any warning, Zain pulled himself back, his muscles tightening. Then, he snapped forward at Xiomar. His mouth opened so wide that when he came down on Xiomar, he disappeared instantly. Zain landed in the spot her father was moments ago, taking his place...
"No!" Aliyah whined, her eyes snapping open to reveal stunningly yellow orbs. They seemed to glow, even in the darkness of the cave. From the opening in the top of the massive hole in the ground, the moonlight shone through, casting a circle of light on the floor in front of Aliyah's bed. Across from her, laying comfortably on the ground, was her mother, Safara, and her new mate, Zain. Ali nearly growled as she mentally told herself to simmer down. Swallowing, she glanced to her left, seeing her sister, Kabira, and her mate, Gathii, curled up with Aliyah's two nieces and nephew. She also caught sight of Zahur, her brother who was usually attached to her at the hip. He was across the cave, sleeping in a den of his own. Aliyah was reminded of memories of Zahur and herself curled up together as puppies, when their father was still around.
Sighing, the young Maalik pushed herself into a sitting position with her front legs. Behind her, her multi-colored tail wrapped around her paws. Aliyah waited there for a moment, knowing it was entirely too early for her to get up... but she also had too much on her mind to go back to bed. Taking care of her nieces and nephew with Kabira, watching as her mother loved someone other than her father, and feeling the need to constantly protect Zahur from anything that could possibly hurt him... It was so stressful. The young African wild dog waited another moment, blinking a few times before deciding she would wander outside to the lake for a while.
Being as quiet as possible, Aliyah took a few steps from her nest, her claws scrabbling lightly against the hard stone floor. As she walked by her mother to get to the entrance, she felt like she could have easily reached out and kicked her, or even grabbed Zain's throat in a death grip. But inside Aliyah knew she wasn't that type of person and she wouldn't do that, regardless of how stupid and stupid and... stupid Zain was. Her mother was stupid for being with him. She was stupid for even thinking of leaving Xiomar. It was so easy for Aliyah to just blame everything on her mother, everything was her fault. Rolling her eyes, Aliyah's bright yellow gaze moved up to the entrance. Ever so quietly, Aliyah exited the cave, glad to sniff some fresh air as soon as she escaped.
The moon was bright in the sky, the stars sending their weak rays of light down from the black abyss that was the sky. It was also the place where Adroa, her god, stayed and watched over them all. Supposedly, every star in the sky was someone who had died an honorable death. They were the guardians of Adroa's kingdom. Sighing, her eyes shifted to the moon, which was full in the sky, a complete circle. "Please help me Adroa. I think... I think I want to start a pack. It's so stressful with Kabira's puppies and all. Mother's going to want puppies of her own soon. Please tell me if this is a crazy idea, but please help me if you think I can do it." she murmured quietly, rolling back onto her dark toned haunches.
"And, Adroa, do you think you could help me with my.. uh.. father problems? I really want to meet my real father. I want him to come back so that he can fall in love with mother again and maybe kill Zain? I know, I'm not supposed to think like that, but I can't help it." she glanced down to the ground, feeling a sort of guilt. After that, she let her mouth stay closed, staying still for around five minutes. Luckily, Adroa didn't let her know that starting a pack was a hideous idea, so she felt that she could begin. "Alright, then I'll start recruiting tomorrow. I'll call it Validus. We will stay safe here, we will be a family." she murmured quietly, her tail unraveling from her paws. She quickly stood, glancing to the moon once more. "Thank you, Adroa," she told her god quietly, turning towards the entrance.
Within seconds, Aliyah was at the entrance, quieting every step she took. Her claws skittered quietly against the ground, but other than that she hardly made a sound. Her mother was still curled up against Zain, Kabira was still coiled around her puppies, and Zahur was still in his den snoring lightly. Aside from the fact her mother and Zain were in here, everyone in this den was someone she loved. Aliyah let a gentle smile stain her maw as she made her way towards her nest. Before she did so, however, she stopped by Kabira, gave her and each of her puppies a gentle touch of her nose, and did the same to Zahur, who seemed on the brink of waking up. "Shh," she gently whispered, mostly to herself, nuzzling his shoulder once more before turning to go to her den. She crawled into the hole quietly, her thoughts silencing as she laid her head against her paws. Her bright yellow eyes fell shut and sleep slowly took over her body. Before thirty minutes were up, she was breathing rhythmically, her sides rising and falling peacefully. Dreams were staining her unconsciousness and, even through her sleep, she gently cracked a smile.
