NAME | Aliyah Tabita Maalik
AGE | Two years, three months
GENDER | Female
SPECIES | African Wild Dog
PERSONALITY | Aliyah is a strange character indeed. Upon first meeting her, one will find that she can be very suspicious and rejecting, unless of course they mention Validus. Otherwise, she is quick to question one's reason of being in her space or around the pack lands. Even to kind strangers, Ali is quick to chase them away... unless they wish to join Validus. When it comes to strangers and her pack, she wishes for everyone to join and be a family.
Aliyah is also extremely protective. It takes her a long time to gain full trust in someone, so when she finally does she grows very protective of that creature. Nothing can touch them without Aliyah knowing. Though she won't be nosy about it, she has a watchful eye that will stay trained on the other at all times... metaphorically speaking. The same goes for her pack. Though she may form alliances with other packs, when she's in a good mood and trusts in their leader, she will protect her pack from anything and everything at all costs. This may cost her life or her family, but she will do anything to keep her pack alive and well.
But, while Aliyah may be somewhat of a sweetheart on the inside, she does remain stern on the outside, especially with outside wolves. With her pack members, she will be sure to tell them off if they're doing something that is against the rules, and she will not hesitate to turn her members into slaves. When it comes to outside wolves, those that are not apart of her pack, she is very stern with them. She will lay down the law and when it is disobeyed she will not hesitate to give a punishment.
Aliyah is very religious. As the leader of her pack, she has to be religious to help carry on the religion to the rest of her members. Being from father upward in the continent they live in, she picked up a religion from her family and the other African Wild Dogs up around that area. She believes strongly in Adroa, the the African creator god. Though she knows she can't force the beliefs of everyone in her pack, she does want them to believe as well, and prays frequently to the god, talking to him sometimes when she's alone. Her parents and siblings also do this, so she knows she isn't alone.
Aliyah can be rather afraid, however. Regardless of the fact that she would do anything for her pack, and will take on anyone who tries to challenge it, she's always got the constant pressure and fear of failing her pack. What if she let something through that hurt her people? Ali is also scared of love. She's seen it hurt her brother and nearly kill her mother. Yet, she's also seen the beautiful things it created with her sister. She can't decide what her emotions are about the subject.
So, there you have her - Aliyah Tabita Maalik. She has lots of family ties, though her life seems so complicated right now. Ali wants nothing more than to care for her pack so that they can be the best and a family. She doesn't know how to feel about love and can be afraid sometimes, though she doesn't let it show. Aliyah keeps her emotions inside, for the most part, and becomes very protective over those she loves. She's a very kind dog, but will lay down the law when needed.
APPEARANCE | Aliyah is not only a kind-hearted African wild dog, but she's a beautiful one as well. We'll start with her build, which is about average for an African wild dog female. She stands at 32 inches tall at the nape of the neck, a bit taller than other females. Ali weighs 58 pounds... 58.7 to be exact. With her long legs, she can move very quickly, able to get away from most attackers. There is also muscle beneath her shaggy pelt, which makes Aliyah a good fighter, for the most part.
Her pelt is one of the most unique things about her, though not very unique when you put her up next to other African wild dogs. Classically, her fur is of a medium length, short but shaggy. On her forehead is the thin dark stripe that runs up between her eyes. Every African wild dog has one and Aliyah is no exception. Her fur is colored with light blonde shades, browns, blacks, and even a few patches of white. Near the top of her back right leg is a unique six-point star.
Lastly are Aliyah's facial features. The most noticeable thing is her eyes, which shine brightly even in the dark. Though they do not really glow, they are so stunningly yellow that you can see them wherever she is. Her nose is the classic dark black, always wet as long as she's healthy. Of course, her tongue is a light pink and her teeth are long and sharp, stained pink barely with the blood of prey. So, there you have her. Aliyah is a beautiful African wild dog who has a unique 6-point star near her rump. Her eyes are a stunningly glowing yellow. Aliyah is very beautiful.

HISTORY | Aliyah has lived a complicated life, especially with her family. Her parents didn't have much of a love story. For the most part, her mother, Safara, was bound to her father, Xiomar, after a day out in the woods. She was blessed with puppies which came entirely too quickly for Safara to prepare for. Xiomar was scared, though the strong African wild dog wouldn't admit it. When the first litter came, he became abusive, driven by the fear of being a father. Aliyah's older sister, Kabira, was the only one to survive after a few weeks. She was hurt by her father every so often, but the one that struggled the most was Safara. However, though the hurt, she found that a year later she was having puppies once more.
Aliyah was born February 22nd, 2011, regardless of the fact that she wasn't wanted. Along with her came one brother, Zahur, and a sister, though she was born stillborn and left only Zahur and Aliyah. Kabira was ecstatic to have other siblings and she was the one that mainly cared for the newborn puppies, as Safara was dealing with Xiomar. Aliyah and Zahur were about 3 months old when Safara stormed away from Xiomar, grabbing her two puppies by the scruff and telling the now-year-old Kabira to follow. They left Xiomar, leaving Aliyah with few memories of him. To this day, she's sure that she would've loved him, only because of the fact he was her father.
Safara settled in a southern area, where there were tons of caverns and caves. Plus, as if that wasn't enough, there was a lake right outside. Aliyah grew attached to the land, as did Zahur, who Aliyah had grown very attached to. She was close to Kabira as well, but when Aliyah hit about 10 months old, Kabira found a nice African wild dog male, who started out as a friend. The two remained that way for many months, so long that Aliyah hit the year and a half mark, before Kabira really admitted her true love for him. That was also around the time that Safara brought another male to their caverns.
Aliyah was instantly angered at her mother. How could she fall in love with someone other than her father? Zahur didn't take this as harshly, and Kabira was too wound up in her new mate to care. Did anybody besides her realize that this was absolutely crazy? She was miserable for a few months, spending most of her time at the lake away from her mother. Every time Safara tried to talk to her, she wouldn't speak back and walked away. Zahur stuck close to her side, knowing that she was having a hard time.
One day, Kabira came back and revealed that she was going to have puppies. She was nearly three years old, mature enough to be a mother. Just before the birth of the puppies, Aliyah decided to make their little area a pack. A bigger group would help Kabira and her mate, Gathii, care for the puppies. Without the permission of her mother, Aliyah began to bring other wolves into the caverns, starting the pack which she called Validus. The puppies of Kabira's were born when Aliyah hit two years old. There were three of them - two females and one male. They were adorable and Aliyah instantly fell in love with them. Zahur did as well, seeing as they were his blood.
As of now, Aliyah is living in Validus, practically attached to Zahur at the hip. She cares frequently for Kabira's three puppies, who are now around three months old. She still hates her step-father and is on bad terms with her mother, who she knows is planning on conceiving his puppies this spring. It's a complicated life for Aliyah.
